About Dr. Narendra Kumar Back
Born on 2nd October 1952, Dr. Narendra Kumar obtained B.Tech (Honours) in First Division in Mechanical Engineering and M.Tech in Industrial Engineering & Operations Research from Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur in 1974 and 1976 respectively.
While in service with the Indian Railways, he also obtained his PhD from Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi in 1995. His PhD thesis is entitled ‘Decision Support System for Unit Exchange Spares Management’.
He has joined Krishna Engineering College as Director after illustrious career spanning over three decades in Indian Railways. During his service in Indian Railways he held several important positions including Senior Professor of Mechanical & Industrial Engineering at Railway Staff College, Vadodara, three years as Director KIET Group of Institutions and three and half years as Principal JSSATE, Noida. He has been responsible for conducting several courses in his specialization of Mechanical & Industrial Engineering. He also pursued his research interests in Mechanical motive power (focusing on design evaluation of high-speed coaches, wagons from stability consideration) and conducted oscillation trials.
He has number of publications to his credit including a paper on ‘Simulation Study of Unit Exchange Spares Management’ co-authored with Prof. PremVrat (presently Vice Chancellor UPTU) in the International Journal of Production Economics, Elsevier, Amsterdam (1994), and another paper on TQM presented in 12th World Congress on Total Quality (2002).
